If you are looking for a place that specializes in local, seasonal, and sustainable fare with an emphasis on healthy cuisine then you should check out The Stockpot. The Stockpot is a “from scratch” kitchen that specializes in healthy comfort food with a focus on using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Some of the places they get their produce from are Cromwell Farm, Dave & Dee’s, Cullipher Farms and Chelsea Bakehouse. Their flavors and décor arose from both of the owners lifelong passion for cooking, sports, health backgrounds, and their love for travel.
At The Stockpot you can find unique, healthy, simple meals that are delicious. Their tasty seasonal menu showcases many made to order soups, bone broths, breakfast, salads, toasties (a pocket sandwich), toasts (an open faced sandwich), smoothies, pastries, daily specials and more. With a name like The Stockpot you would think that you can get great soup here; well you are right! The Stockpot prepares their soups one at a time. They start with various bone-broth-based homemade stocks, and then add the extra ingredients when you order so nothing is overcooked and you get a super-rich flavor. All soups come in an 8oz cup or a 12oz bowl, with a rosemary biscuit on the side. But you can also buy full size biscuits, and they are so delicious you probably will. You can also get just the bone broth; they can be sipped just like coffee or tea and are sold in 8-, 12- and 32-ounce sizes. The soups that are always on their menu are Chicken Noodle Bowl and the Soups du Jour. But don’t expect to find your usual chicken noodle soup here, this Chicken Noodle Bowl is made with chicken broth, chicken breast, soba noodles, ginger, green onion, kimchi and cilantro. You can also make it even more different than usual and add a poached egg to the soup for a small extra charge. In addition to soup they have a bunch of breakfast items, toasties, toasts, salads, wraps and smoothies. The Stockpot will accommodate to dairy or gluten free requests. Some favorite dishes are the Sweet Potato Corned Beef Hash, Pork Carnitas, Avo-toast, Chicken Salad Toast and the Zucchini Noodle Greek Salad. If you like a little spice in your food, ask for some hot sauce, The Stockpot will offer you some Speedy’s Hot Sauce, a delicious local hot sauce. Don’t forget to top your meal off with a fresh smoothie like the Coconut Crush, which blends almond milk kefir with pineapple, banana, vanilla, orange juice and toasted coconut.
The Stockpot’s full menu is available all day, so you can order breakfast, lunch or dinner. They are located at 700 19th Street, Suite 106 in Virginia Beach. They are open Monday through Friday from 7:00AM-7:00PM, Saturday from 8:00AM-4:00PM and closed on Sundays. There is seating outside, and as you come in, there is a high top communal table, seating at the bar and a row of tables as well. It is not that big, so depending on the time you go you might have to wait just a little.
